Who Is Buying All These U.S. Treasuries?

I find it puzzling to discern who will buy all the Treasuries needed to fund our National Debt.  I could not agree more that rates need to go up so that savings go up, rather than spending all this money that you have and the money you don’t have but can borrow, which is very easy to do since banks are ready to give you another credit card and interest rates have been so low.

The following article from Wolf Street (“Who Bought the $1.6 Trillion of New US National Debt Over the Past 12 Months?” by Wolf Richter, published Oct 16, 2018) may shed some light on this matter, especially when China and Japan, by far the largest holders of U.S. debt, have been shedding their holdings.
