Newest Remote Car Hacking Raises More Questions About Reporter’s Death
By Russ Baker
A new test offers still more proof that automobiles can be remotely hacked and cause injury or death. Yet nobody seems to want to ask an obvious question: Was this what happened to investigative journalist Michael Hastings?

WHO

Noam Chomsky: ‘What exactly is the threat of Iran?’
America’s leading dissident voice spoke with Aljazeera America about the Iran deal and, as Chomsky sees it, the speciousness of America’s self-appointed right to impose the deal in the first place. Chomsky is pointing to the elephant in the room—the world’s leading nuclear power is forcing a lesser power into restrictions of a nuclear program that is not producing, nor has clearly planned on producing, nuclear weapons.

Lobbyists Fundraising for Clinton, Bush, Rubio and Kasich Are Coworkers
Here’s another example of the murky, incestuous world of K Street, which is currently experiencing a renaissance. Lobbying powerhouse Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld has been hired to raise cash for Hillary, The Next Bush In Line, Marco Rubio and the latest entry into the GOP scrum, John Kasich. They join Monsanto, Boeing, Chevron, Gilead Sciences, Pfizer, AT&T, the United Arab Emirates and Japan on Akin Gump’s bulging client list.

Donald Trump Was a Stock Market Disaster
Trump likes to trumpet his epic wealth. The media is dissecting Trump’s voluminous financial disclosure.  But Brett Arends of MarketWatch isn’t impressed with “The Donald” or with “Trump’s chumps.” Those are the people who bought in to Trump’s various business ventures and ended up losing their shirts … including the investors who pumped money into Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts. By the time it failed in 2005, they lost about 90 cents on the dollar.

WHAT

The Moral Failures of America’s Prison-Industrial Complex
The Economist offers a compelling indictment of the US prison system and its “tough-on-crime” mantra, incredible harsh sentencing and a “reflexive dehumanisation of criminals and felons.” Accordingly, President Obama’s recent attempts to mitigate decades of draconian incarceration policies do not go far enough and, according to The Economist, it is time for America to bring its policies back in line with the rest of the civilized world.

WHY

NASA Announces Discovery of ‘Second Earth’ in Deep Space
NASA’s Kepler space telescope found 4,175 planets, but a newly discovered exoplanet (orbiting a sun in another solar system) might be the best “Goldilocks” planet ever found. “Goldilocks” refers to the incredibly rare confluence of factors—such as temperate zones and the presence of water—needed to sustain life. Earth is orbiting the Sun in a Goldilocks scenario. Now it has a relative named Kepler 452b. Earth’s “older brother” is currently circling a sun-like star in an orbit that takes 385 days– about 400 light years from Earth in the constellation Cygnus
