The attempt to obtain basic details about central bank gold holdings is a subject which without exception the mainstream financial media never appears to broach. However, various attempts at obtaining detail of sovereign / central bank gold holdings have been documented by various researches. This article (Part 1) and its sequel (Part 2) adds to the documented evidence by summarising how a series of attempts to gain access to information about Ireland’s monetary gold reserves using Freedom of Information requests and other means was blocked, hindered and otherwise interfered with by the Central Bank of Ireland, the Irish Department of Finance, and the Bank of England.
