ICI Reports ETF Assets and Net Issuance For November 2015

The combined assets of the nation’s exchange-traded funds (ETFs) were $2.123 trillion in November, according to ICI. The Institute’s monthly statistical collection also includes the value of shares issued and redeemed by exchange-traded funds. 

Statistics contained in the Institute’s monthly ETF report have been obtained from information provided to ICI by exchange-traded funds and commodity funds. Commodity funds are listed in the Domestic (Sector/Industry) category.

Highlights: Assets of all exchange-traded funds rose in November by $19.12 billion, or 0.9 percent, to $2.123 trillion. Over the past 12 months, ETF assets increased $168.63 billion, or 8.6 percent. Assets in domestic equity ETFs increased $73.63 billion since November 2014, and global equity ETF assets rose $48.22 billion during this period. At the end of November 2015, assets of bond funds were $342.17 billion and hybrid funds were $3.78 billion.

During November, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $25.89 billion. In November 2014, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $41.29 billion.
