Beyond Gold & Silver. Preparing for Hard Times.

Christopher Martenson, Michael Oliver and Jean Martineau return as guests while John Rubino substitutes for show host Jay Taylor. Jay is visiting a gold mining project in Nevada.

Owning gold and silver in various forms is often discussed as a strategy for surviving difficult political and economic climates. But there are many more strategies to consider not only for the sake of your personal survival but to enable you to prosper and, in the process, enhance the lives of your family and community. Guest host John Rubino quizzes Christopher about those topics.

As usual Michael shares his latest views on major markets and in a pre-recorded interview, regular host Jay Taylor seeks an update on Dynacor Gold Mines from that company’s CEO Jean Martineau.

He currently writes for CFA Magazine.

Chris Martenson, PhD (Duke), MBA (Cornell) is an economic researcher and futurist specializing in energy and resource depletion, and co-founder of PeakProsperity.com (along with Adam Taggart). As one of the early econobloggers who forecasted the housing market collapse and stock market correction, Chris rose to prominence with the launch of his seminal video seminar: The Crash Course (also published in book form, Wiley, March 2011). It’s a popular and well-regarded distillation of the interconnected forces in the Economy, Energy and the Environment (the “Three Es” as Chris calls them) that are shaping the future, one that will be defined by increasing challenges to growth as we have known it. In addition to the analysis and commentary he writes for his site PeakProsperity.com, Chris’ insights are in high demand by the media as well as academic, civic and private organizations around the world, including institutions such as the UN, the UK House of Commons and US State Legislatures.

Michael Oliver entered the financial services industry in 1975 on the Futures side, joining E.F. Hutton’s International Commodity Division, NYC. He studied under David Johnson, head of Hutton’s Commodity Division and Chairman of the COMEX.

In the 1980’s Oliver began to develop his own momentum-based method of technical analysis. In 1987 Oliver, along with his futures client accounts (Oliver had trading POA) technically anticipated and captured the Crash. Oliver began to realize that his emergent momentum-structural-based tools should be further developed into a full analytic methodology.

In 1992 he was asked by the Financial VP and head of Wachovia Bank’s Trust Department to provide soft dollar research to Wachovia. Within a year Oliver shifted from brokerage to full-time technical research. MSA has provided its proprietary technical research services to financial and asset management clients continually since 1992. Oliver is the author of The New Libertarianism: Anarcho-Capitalism
